Community Introductions – Tell Us About Yourself

Welcome to CAMK2 Therapeutics Network Community!

Start Here: Introduce Yourself

Whether you are a parent, caregiver, family member, self-advocate, clinician, researcher, or supporter, we invite you to introduce yourself below.

If you’re comfortable sharing, consider telling us:

  • Your name and where you’re joining us from

  • Your connection to the CAMK2 community

  • Which CAMK2 gene (CAMK2A, CAMK2B, CAMK2D, or CAMK2G) is involved, if known

  • The age of your loved one (or yourself, if you are self-advocating)

  • What brought you to the CAMK2 Therapeutics Network

  • One thing you hope to learn, contribute, or accomplish through this community

There is no right or wrong way to introduce yourself. Whether you share a few sentences or a longer story, we are glad you’re here and look forward to getting to know you.

It’s easy; just hit the reply button and say hello!

Hello everyone!

My name is Bonnie Dwyer, and I am joining from California, USA.

My connection to the CAMK2 community:
I am the mother of Alex and serve as the Executive Director of the CAMK2 Therapeutics Network. My family’s journey with CAMK2 inspired me to become involved in advocacy and to help build a community focused on advancing research, support, and therapeutic development.

The CAMK2 gene involved:
CAMK2B

Specific variant:
E110K

Age of my loved one:
Alex is 20 years old.

What brought me to the Network:
Like many families, we spent years searching for answers and looking for connections with others who understood our experiences. I started CAMK2 Therapeutics Network because I wanted to help create the resources, research infrastructure, and community that I wished had existed when our family first received Alex’s diagnosis.

What I hope to learn or contribute through this community:
I hope to help families connect with one another, support research efforts that move us closer to treatments, and ensure that the voices of individuals and families affected by CAMK2-related disorders remain at the center of everything we do. I am also looking forward to learning from the experiences and perspectives of community members around the world.

I’m so glad you’re here and look forward to getting to know you and your family!

With Gratitude,

Bonnie & Alex
